iOS 12.1.2 download available with fixes for eSIM activation and cellular issues

Earlier today Apple has released iOS 12.1.2 for iPhone which brings fixes for eSIM activation and cellular connectivity in Turkey.  Seeded for developer testing a week ago, the iOS 12.1.2 update with build number 16C101 is now commercially available as an over-the-air update in Settings → General → Software Update.

iOS 12.1.2 release notes

Apple’s release notes accompanying the download detail the changes:
iOS 12.1.2 includes bug fixes for your iPhone. This update:
  • Fixes bugs with eSIM activation for iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max
  • Addresses an issue that could affect cellular connectivity in Turkey for iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max
For information on the security content of this update, read Apple’s support document.
It was unclear from Apple’s documentation at press time whether the iOS 12.1.2 update includes any software changes to circumvent Qualcomm patents in China as rumored.

The eSIM feature requires iPhones with an electronic SIM card that permits the works alongside the regular SIM card so customers can use two phone numbers simultaneously. eSIM is also used on cellular iPads.
