Chimera Jailbreak for iOS 12 - 12.1.2 Released

Hot on heels, Electra team led by CoolStar has just released a new jailbreak tool called Chimera, the tool works on all iOS devices running on iOS 12.0 - iOS 12.1.2 with the support for A12X devices like iPhone XS and iPhone XR.

Chimera’s polished website goes great lengths to describe the newfangled jailbreak tool as a clean and hassle-free way of achieving a jailbreak on your iOS 12.0-12.1.2 device. Here are some excerpts:
Chimera is the first true iOS 12 jailbreak to not only feature a CoreTrust bypass so that binaries don’t need to be resigned, but to also support A12 devices, including iPhone Xs, iPhone Xr, and the newest iPads. Chimera doesn’t tamper with user files, making it safer than alternatives.

We’ve rewritten Chimera from the ground up to ensure that there’s no battery drain, freezing, or crashing. There’s simply nothing else like it, and we can’t wait for you to see for yourself.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Electra Team-made Chimera jailbreak ships with the Sileo package manager instead of Cydia, and it also takes advantage of Substitute instead of Cydia Substrate. Notably, the Chimera jailbreak tool bundles the first official release of Sileo, version 1.0, which is no longer considered a beta release at the time of this writing:
Chimera comes with a modern package manager, Sileo, featuring a UI made to fit iOS, and packed full of features and speed enhancements to make installing packages a breeze. Rather than sticking to tools built decades ago, it ships with modern system tools designed to take advantage wherever possible.

What is the difference between Chimera and UnC0ver jailbreak

From all the wording, it looks like Chimera is more stable than Unc0ver 3.0 and it has a better UI than it. You can download Chimera’s IPA file from its website and then sideload it on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 12 – iOS 12.1.2 using Impactor. After that, you can use the app to jailbreak your iPhone.

If you have already jailbroken your iPhone using Unc0ver, you can still use Chimera to overwrite that jailbreak.

There’s no clear word on when Saurik will update Cydia Substrate for A12-A12X Bionic devices. The Unc0ver team is also working on Substitute as a replacement but there’s no ETA as to when it would be released. Thus, for the time being, Chimera jailbreak is the only option for iPhone XS/XR owners looking to jailbreak their phone.
