iOS 12 - iOS 12.2 Jailbreak Demoed [Video]

Earlier today, security researcher Liang Chen from KeenLabs has demoed a video on YouTube showing iOS 12.1.3 - iOS 12.2 jailbreak on iPhone XS Max which is considered one of the amazing things. This jailbreak runs with PAC and APRR bypass and Liang even shows Cydia running on his iPhone XS Max as proof.

Don’t get your hopes too high for a possible iOS 12.1.3 – iOS 12.2 jailbreak being released anytime soon though. Chen is not going to release his jailbreak to the public. Instead, KeenLabs is likely going to sell this jailbreak to a third-party or inform about this to Apple and collect their reward. In the past as well, Keen Labs has demonstrated multiple exploits for iOS 12 which could have been used for a jailbreak.

Here watch the video:

As is the case with most jailbreak demonstration videos, Chen starts off by showcasing the device type and software version in the Settings app. Shortly after, he launched KeenLab’s proprietary jailbreak app, taps on the jailbreak button, and pwns the handset.

KeenLab is known for showing off jailbreaks on newer hardware and software combinations before any prominent jailbreak hackers or teams release a public jailbreak for similar setups; case in point, they were one of the first to jailbreak iOS 12 in and of itself. But they’re also notorious for never releasing anything, as they generally keep their work internal for testing purposes only.

Reasons why jailbreak of iOS 12.2 is possible:
  • The device that was jailbroken is of the A12(X) variety
  • It presents evidence that a jailbreak is indeed possible to achieve on iOS 12.1.3-12.2
  • It purportedly includes PAC and APRR bypasses
Currently you can only jailbreak iOS 12 and iOS 12.1.2 using Chimera jailbreak or UnC0ver. You can follow our guide about how to jailbreak iOS 12 - iOS 12.1.2 using Chimera jailbreak

Are you happy for seeing this video ? Do you think we are going to see iOS 12.2 jailbreak very soon or not ? KeenLab guys are known for a long time for just teasing videos and never released anything.
