5G cellular MacBooks coming next year [Rumor]

Apple is seemingly looking to launch a MacBook with 5G in 2020. DigiTimes report that for better performance, Apple’s 5G antenna will be made of ceramic while its competition will rely on metal antenna boards.

Citing unnamed industry sources, the Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimes reported Friday:
The world’s top-3 notebook vendors Lenovo, HP and Dell are set to introduce their first 5G models in the second half of 2019, and Apple is also expected to roll out its 5G MacBook series in the second half of 2020, according to industry sources.
The wording doesn’t make it clear whether DigiTimes is referring to the MacBook family or Mac notebooks in general. For what it’s worth, Apple did discontinue the 12-inch MacBook earlier this mont, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s given up on MacBooks. It’s entirely possible the MacBook brand could be revived next year with embedded 5G connectivity as one of the key new features. But if you ask me, my money is on the MacBook Air getting an embedded 5G modem before this technology gets rolled out to the rest of the company’s notebook lineup.

For now, Apple is preparing to launch a 16-inch MacBook Pro before the end of this year. This new MacBook Pro would feature a Narrow Bezel display which would allow the Cupertino company to fit a 16-inch display in the chassis that’s about the same size as the 15-inch MacBook Pro. It could also be the first MacBook from the company to feature Intel’s 10nm Ice Lake processor and AMD’s 7nm Navi GPUs for superior performance. It is said to feature the more reliable scissor keyboard and a starting price tag of $3,000.

So what do you think ?
